Dr Sam Toby

BSc, MBBS, FRACGP · Associate Professor, UQ School of Medicine

Dr Toby is a Family Medicine Doctor with a special interest in longevity, integrative and functional medicine, nutritional and environmental medicine, and precision medicine. She is an Associate Professor of the University of Queensland School of Medicine and a scientist working in STEM, with a special interest in integrative medicine. She works with families with Autism and is a trained Biobalance doctor. She also provides vitality and health coaching focused on the root causes of a patient's health.

Training & Education

Medical degree at Griffith University and Science degree at the University of Queensland. Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Associate Professor, University of Queensland School of Medicine.

Special Interests

Longevity; integrative and functional medicine; nutritional and environmental medicine; precision medicine; supporting families with Autism.

Tradition / lineage

Gangulu — her family are of the Gangulu nation of the Callide and Dawson Valleys, originally from Banana, Central Queensland.

Location

Born and raised in Central Queensland. Has practised in rural and remote medicine and currently works internationally on research in longevity, integrative, nutritional and environmental medicine — and throughout Australia.

Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and developmental delays. Musculoskeletal conditions.

From a nurse education background, Debbie became interested in kinesiology when her 21 years of migraine pain was resolved by it. She loves helping people improve their health and vitality.

Registered Nurse. Bachelor of Nursing (QUT). Masters in Professional Education & Training, with distinction (Deakin University). Cert IV Kinesiology. Diploma in Kinesiology (currently studying).

Ambrose is of the Gangulu, Welsh, Australian South Sea Islander and Northern Cheyenne lineages, with ancestral healers reaching back more than 3,000 generations. He was educated, mentored and chosen by his grandfather, Robert Toby Senior — a Gangulu traditional healer, lore man, and cultural heritage steward and protector — to continue his lineage of caring for Gangulu country.
